RESEARCH-BASED
Written by two substance abuse counselors, Suzanne Diou and Lois Caldwell, this book is based on the successful program 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. The 12 Stepping Stones program has been evaluated by principals, counselors, teachers, parents, and children. Children who have participated in the program were subjectively evaluated by the classroom teachers on the following criteria: academics, attendance, behavior, self-esteem, and resiliency strengths. Children’s self-esteem showed the greatest improvement. Academics and behavioral changes showed marginal improvement while the attendance data remained constant.
