  1. Outstanding Resource for All K-8 School Counselors!

Posted by Terri A., Elementary School Counselor on Oct 1st 2021

Teshia Stovall Dula’s book, More STEAM for the School Counselor (Science, Technology Engineering , Art , Mathematics) is an outstanding resource for all K-8 School Counselors. Mrs. Dula has managed to incorporate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math into School Counseling lessons (no easy feat). STEAM also correlates with the American School Counselors Association (ASCA), Mindset and Behaviors.

Each lesson in STEAM involves project- and problem-based learning. By working together in groups, students practice problem-solving, teamwork, and decision-making skills.

Each activity is unique and stimulating! STEAM activities ignite the imagination and career aspirations of all students. The 3D Respectful Robot lesson allows students to work in groups (teamwork) to plan, create, and decorate a Respectful Robot.

This classroom instruction covers ASCA Classroom and Group Mindsets and Behaviors: (B.SS6) Effective collaboration and cooperation skills and (B-SS 7) Leadership and teamwork skills to work effectively in diverse teams. I recommend STEAM for School Counselors. The activities are easy to use, require little preparation, and meet ASCA Classroom and Group Mindsets and Behaviors requirements.
